Deadline Date: October 10, 2026
The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) under the Ministry of Culture of Spain has launched a funding opportunity to support Spanish films participating in internationally recognized film festivals and award ceremonies held between November 2025 and September 2026.
The program supports the international promotion and visibility of Spanish films through participation in prestigious film festivals and award ceremonies. Key areas include support for promotional campaigns, advertising in media and digital platforms, promotional materials, subtitling and screening copies, public relations services, transportation of promotional materials, travel and accommodation expenses for film teams, organization of receptions during festivals, and promotional screenings for award ceremonies including The Oscars and other international awards.
The initiative aims to strengthen the international presence of Spanish cinema by helping production companies cover participation and promotion expenses associated with prestigious global festivals and film award ceremonies. The support is available for completed Spanish films that have received an official invitation or selection from eligible festivals or award organizers.
Funding is provided through a competitive process and covers up to 100% of eligible participation and promotion expenses. The total budget allocated for the call is €700,000. Of this amount, €400,000 is reserved for festivals ending between 1 November 2025 and 31 March 2026, while €300,000 is allocated for festivals ending between 1 April and 30 September 2026. An additional €200,000 may also be added if further budget becomes available.
The funding amount varies depending on the festival, section, or award category. Support ranges from approximately €1,500 to €70,000. Major festivals such as Cannes can receive up to €25,000 for official selections, Berlinale up to €25,000, Venice up to €20,000, Toronto up to €20,000, and Sundance up to €15,000. Support related to The Oscars can reach up to €70,000 for Spanish films nominated in the final selection for Best International Feature Film representing Spain.
Eligible applicants are Spanish production companies that meet the requirements established by the ICAA. International co-productions may also qualify provided there is effective Spanish technical, creative, or service participation. Financial co-productions with Spanish participation below 20% are excluded.
Eligible expenses include advertising campaigns across television, radio, internet, social media, digital platforms, printed media, outdoor advertising, promotional materials, subtitling and copies, transport services, public relations services, travel expenses, accommodation costs, festival receptions, and promotional screenings connected with award campaigns.
Applications must be submitted electronically through the Ministry of Culture’s electronic headquarters together with all required supporting documents, including the promotion plan, festival invitation or official selection confirmation, proof of Spanish nationality of the film, and related declarations and certifications.
