Deadline Date: September 04, 2026
The European Space Agency has launched a funding call to support the development of space-enabled services aimed at strengthening environmental and economic resilience in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions.
The call focuses on environmental monitoring and pollution detection, climate impact monitoring, fisheries and aquaculture resilience, food security and sustainable Arctic value chains, and decision-making support tools for environmental authorities and operators.
This sub-call supports the development of innovative services that address environmental protection and climate resilience challenges in the Arctic region. The initiative seeks solutions that can monitor, protect, and strengthen Arctic ecosystems while supporting economically significant sectors such as fisheries and aquaculture, which are increasingly vulnerable to climate change, pollution, and growing maritime activities.
Applicants are encouraged to develop services that contribute to environmental monitoring, risk reduction, informed decision-making, and sustainable resource management across the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions. Proposed solutions should demonstrate a clear user need and engage relevant stakeholders, including public authorities, environmental agencies, fisheries and aquaculture operators, port and coastal authorities, or environmental service providers.
Funding is provided under ESA Business Applications non-competitive conditions. Selected projects can receive zero-equity funding covering between 50% and 80% of project costs, depending on SME status and Member State approval. In addition to financial support, participants will receive technical and commercial guidance, access to ESA’s network and partners, and benefit from ESA brand credibility.
The funding opportunity is open to companies of all sizes, including start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large companies. Consortia involving industrial and non-industrial partners, as well as cross-sectoral teams combining space and non-space actors, are also eligible to apply.
