The Heritage Grant Program is inviting applications to support conservation projects that protect and maintain heritage-listed places through restoration and preservation works.
The focus areas, of the program include physical conservation works, heritage preservation, addressing damp problems, structural failure, subsidence, timber decay, roof deflection, urgent stabilisation works, use of traditional conservation techniques and methods, retention and reuse of original materials, adherence to Burra Charter Principles and Practices, respect for existing heritage fabric, conservation planning, and engagement of experienced heritage conservation practitioners.
The grant is available for future heritage projects, with priority given to physical conservation works undertaken at heritage-listed places. Eligible projects may involve repairs and conservation activities that address structural and environmental issues affecting heritage properties or apply traditional conservation methods to preserve their cultural significance.
Funding may also support the preparation of conservation plans where there is a commitment to undertake physical conservation work. These plans are intended to guide future conservation activities and ensure appropriate preservation outcomes.
The maximum grant available for an individual project is $25,000. An additional $10,000 may be provided where there is a demonstrated significant public benefit and approval is granted by the Heritage Account Special Committee.
Applicants must be owners or leaseholders of heritage-listed places located within the City of Hobart local government area. Eligible properties must be listed under the Local Historic Heritage Code of the Tasmanian Planning Scheme – Hobart or the Tasmanian Heritage Register. Priority may be given to locally listed heritage places.
Applicants must be Australian legal entities with an Australian Business Number and must meet all program requirements regarding previous grants, compliance matters, property ownership commitments, and project eligibility.
