Deadline Date: August 31, 2026
The K4GGWA Innovation Facility Call 5 invites innovators to submit practical land restoration tools that improve soil health and support farmers, pastoralists, and restoration practitioners across Great Green Wall countries in Africa.
The call focuses on tools and technologies that support land preparation and planting, soil health improvement and carbon retention, water harvesting and conservation, erosion control and soil conservation, vegetation establishment and restoration, and labour reduction and productivity enhancement. Eligible innovations include hand-operated, animal-drawn, and tractor-mounted tools that contribute to restoring degraded land and improving landscape resilience.
Applicants may include innovators, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, researchers, farmer organisations, cooperatives, and restoration practitioners working within Great Green Wall countries across the Sahel and Horn of Africa. Proposed solutions should be practical and directly applicable to land restoration challenges in these regions.
Selected innovations may receive funding support of up to €30,000 through the K4GGWA Innovation Facility to advance development and application of their tools for land restoration.
Applications will be assessed based on effectiveness, practicality, affordability, durability, ease of local manufacturing, and simplicity of maintenance and repair, with emphasis on solutions that can be widely adopted to improve land restoration outcomes.
