Startup Challenge by RATP Group

Deadline: 23 March 2025

Applications are open for the “Startup Challenge by RATP Group”.

As the world’s 3rd largest urban transport operator, the RATP group is committed to developing, operating, maintaining and modernizing innovative public transport systems, offering an enriched travel experience for all and improving the working conditions of its employees.

As a preferred partner of 780+ cities worldwide, RATP is helping create more sustainable and inclusive cities. To do so, it can rely on its own capacity for innovation and on an open ecosystem in which startups play a key role.

Challenges

  • Sustainable Transport
    • Context/Need:
      • As a key player in urban daily life, the RATP group is committed to preserving the environment by reducing its carbon footprint. It must also meet the many challenges posed by climate change by constantly adapting its activities to make them more resilient.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • The RATP Group is looking for innovative solutions, processes, or technologies to:
        • Make the most of its resources and waste, particularly industrial waste (steel, ballast, concrete, etc.)
        • Develop the resilience of its activities to the consequences of climate change, particularly on transport infrastructures (effects of heat waves, flooding, etc.).
        • Integrate new, more sustainable materials
    • Scope:
      • Low-carbon materials, intelligent equipment, energy and water recovery solutions, risk monitoring and anticipation tools…
  • For employees
    • Context/Need:
      • The RATP Group relies on the commitment of all its teams to provide passengers with an efficient day-to-day service and to enhance its industrial excellence. Some of these teams carry out physically demanding activities (maintenance, logistics…) or operate in high-risk environments (building sites, working at height, at night…). The RATP Group is always on the lookout for ways to improve their working conditions.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • The RATP Group is looking for innovative solutions, processes or technologies to:
        • Prevent risks, particularly for the most exposed employees.
        • Preserve teams’ health and safety at work, particularly field teams (maintenance, logistics, etc.).
        • Promote team cohesion and solidarity.
    • Scope:
      • Monitoring and prevention solutions, organization of the working environment, new equipment…
  • For passengers
    • Context/Need:
      • Every day, the RATP Group is committed to offering passengers multimodal, accessible and safe mobility. To optimize travel time, make travel easier and enrich the mobility experience, the key challenges are to optimize the fluidity of the journey and the ability to respond to needs other than travel, thanks to useful and innovative services.
    • Expected Solutions:
      • The RATP Group is looking for innovative solutions, processes, or technologies to:
        • Make urban transport easier to use and more attractive for everyone (children, senior citizens, non-citizens, the visually impaired…).
        • Offer a seamless, fluid mobility experience (multimodal journeys, etc.).
        • Provide new, useful passenger services in their spaces.
    • Scope:
      • Innovative signage, flow optimization tools, useful new services in stations, solutions to enhance passenger accessibility, comfort and sense of security…
