Open Challenge Program 9.0 for AR/VR Innovation (India)

Deadline Date: May 11, 2026

The Open Challenge Program 9.0 by OctaNE CoE Imphal invites startups and entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions using Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies.

The focus areas of this program include incubation of startups in Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and related immersive technologies such as MR and XR; creation of a supportive ecosystem with mentorship, funding, and technical assistance; development of innovative solutions addressing regional challenges; promotion of innovation and technology adoption among students and professionals; and support for AR/VR-based product, service, and process development with potential for employment generation and wealth creation.

The program provides staged funding support to selected startups to help them develop and scale their AR/VR-based solutions. The support will be extended in phases, including Proof of Concept funding of Rs. 5.00 lakh, Prototype development funding of Rs. 15.00 lakh, and Marketing support of Rs. 5.00 lakh.

This initiative is part of the OctaNE Centre of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Technologies based in Imphal, Manipur. It is designed to accelerate early-stage technology ventures working in immersive technologies by providing structured support and access to advanced incubation resources.

The program offers multi-stage support for selected startups, including funding for proof of concept, prototype development, and marketing activities. It also provides strategic networking opportunities, mentorship, training, marketing assistance, patent facilitation, and access to state-of-the-art incubation facilities, tools, and infrastructure.

Through this program, startups are encouraged to build solutions that address real-world challenges while strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the region. It aims to promote entrepreneurship and enhance adoption of emerging AR/VR technologies across sectors.

Eligible applicants include startups incorporated as private limited companies, registered partnership firms, or limited liability partnerships. Applicants must be registered within the last 10 years or ensure incorporation within three months of selection if not yet registered. They must have an annual turnover not exceeding Rs. 100 crore and should not be formed by restructuring an existing business. Applicants must focus on innovation and development of technology-driven solutions with potential for economic and employment growth.
