The National Research, Development and Innovation Fund is inviting applications to support Hungarian participation in the EUREKA programme to strengthen international research and development cooperation and innovation activities.
The programme focuses on boosting the competitiveness of Hungarian businesses, enhancing international participation, stimulating research and development cooperation between researchers and businesses, supporting innovative near-market projects leading to prototypes, new products, technologies, or services, and promoting the domestic utilization of international R&D project participation. Eligible project activities include applied industrial research and experimental development, while activities related to publicity, coordination, marketing, intellectual property protection, travel, equipment purchase, and intangible asset acquisition are not eligible as standalone activities.
The initiative aims to strengthen international research collaboration through the EUREKA programme, particularly encouraging the participation of businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises in innovative projects with market-oriented outcomes. The programme supports cooperation that contributes to the development of competitive technologies, products, and services.
The programme is open to a wide range of beneficiary groups including higher education institutions, budgetary research institutions, enterprise-based research organisations, enterprises, non-profit research organisations, other non-profit organisations, and the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network.
The total budget allocated for the programme is HUF 450,000,000. Funding per project ranges from HUF 20 million to HUF 70 million, and projects may have a maximum duration of 36 months.
Eligible applicants include Hungarian partners or consortium leaders involved in EUREKA project proposals or approved projects submitted by international consortia and registered with the EUREKA Secretariat or EUREKA clusters. Hungarian partners participating in the same international EUREKA project must apply together as a consortium to receive national funding.
Applicants must be legal entities registered in Hungary or in the European Economic Area with a branch office in Hungary. Eligible entities include businesses and non-profit companies with at least one completed business year and double-entry accounting systems, accredited higher education institutions, and budgetary organs and entities qualifying as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations under relevant EU regulations.
