Deadline Date: May 25, 2026
The IFAD Call for Proposals 2026 in Senegal seeks partners to implement innovative projects that strengthen rural development through financial inclusion, diaspora investment, and climate-resilient economic growth.
The focus areas, of the programme include strengthening financial inclusion and climate resilience of rural populations, improving access to digital remittances and financial services, mobilizing diaspora investment for rural MSMEs and agricultural value chains, supporting climate change adaptation, promoting sustainable rural economic development, and creating employment opportunities through productive use of remittances and diaspora funds.
The programme is designed to support Senegalese households that receive international remittances, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas, with a strong emphasis on women and youth. It also targets Senegalese diaspora communities living in Europe who send financial support to families in Senegal or who are interested in investing in their country of origin.
The initiative offers two implementation windows. The first window focuses on scaling remittances and diaspora investment for rural development through improved access to digital financial services, savings, credit, and insurance products. It also supports entrepreneurship among migrants and rural households and may include solutions targeting diaspora communities, including those based in Italy. The second window focuses on climate resilience, where remittances and diaspora investments are directed toward supporting climate adaptation strategies, sustainable technologies, and resilience-building practices in rural areas.
Projects selected under the programme will receive grant funding ranging from €150,000 to €400,000 per proposal. A limited number of projects will be financed under each window, with implementation timelines extending between 10 and 24 months. All project results must be achieved by June 2028.
The call is open to a wide range of private sector and non-profit entities, including financial institutions, fintech companies, mobile network operators, microfinance institutions, diaspora networks, NGOs, investment funds, and other organisations capable of contributing to digital remittance systems and diaspora investment ecosystems in Senegal.
