Applicants are now invited to submit applications to support projects aimed at the sustainable renewal and revitalization of cultural monuments through adaptive reuse and participatory approaches that respond to local needs.
The focus areas, of the programme include sustainable restoration and revitalization of cultural heritage, adaptive reuse of cultural monuments, participatory planning, creative placemaking, cultural inclusion, social inclusion, democracy, rule of law, human rights, European green transformation, strengthening international cooperation, cultural mobility, artistic creation, widening access to culture, and reducing socio-economic differences.
The programme is designed to reduce economic and social disparities within the European Economic Area while strengthening cooperation between Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and the Slovak Republic. It promotes shared values such as human equality, freedom, democracy, equality before the law, and respect for human rights, including the rights of minorities. All supported activities must align with these principles and values.
The total funding allocated to the programme is 41,508,236 EUR. Grant sizes vary depending on project type, with UNESCO World Heritage-related projects in cities such as Banská Štiavnica, Levoča, Spišské Podhradie, Bardejov, and Ružomberok eligible for higher funding levels ranging from 1,000,000 EUR to 5,000,000 EUR. Other cultural heritage projects can receive grants ranging from 850,000 EUR to 3,000,000 EUR.
The programme encourages cooperation between local communities, cultural actors, and other stakeholders to protect, interpret, and manage cultural heritage in ways that strengthen local identity and value. It also emphasizes responsible environmental practices, cultural development, and economic benefits through inclusive participation.
Special attention is given to ensuring broad access to cultural activities, including support for women, young people, older persons, and other groups at risk of exclusion. The programme seeks to promote cultural diversity and ensure that no communities are left behind in cultural participation and heritage development.
Eligible applicants include public or private entities, commercial or non-commercial organisations, and non-governmental organisations that are legal entities established in participating countries. Individuals are not eligible to apply. Legal partners may also include organisations from Slovakia, contributing states, or other eligible countries and international organisations that actively participate in project implementation.
