The City of Charlotte is now accepting applications for its Placemaking Grants and Creative Pool.
Types of Grants
- The Placemaking Grant Program, now in its sixth consecutive year, is an effort to give neighborhoods, individuals and businesses the opportunity to transform their community with a vibrant project of their own creation.
- The Placemaking Creative Pool Program helps match local creatives with project opportunities throughout Charlotte. Project managers can select a specific artist from the Pool or interested artists can vie for the project based on their own ability and capacity. The Pool consists of a wide range of creatives who manage, create and implement original compositions.
Funding Information
- Placemaking Grant Program:
- The Urban Design Center (UDC) has a pool of $150,000 available and grants will be between $5,000 and $25,000.

- Community agriculture initiatives

- Swings
- Sidewalk dining
- Programming and events
- Green infrastructure
Eligibility Criteria
- Placemaking Grant Program:
- Neighborhood and homeowners’ associations
- Community organizations
- Businesses or merchant organizations.
- Individuals with Project Teams
- Applicant groups must be significantly composed of people who live within the city of Charlotte limits
- If selected, the applicant must be able to meet the City of Charlotte vendor requirements
- Placemaking Creative Pool Program:
- The Creative Pool consists of a wide range of creatives who manage, create and implement original compositions. This includes creatives who work in mixed media, performance, written and spoken word, video/photography, fabrication and more. The pool was also opened to include teams, organizations and businesses who manage the process of implementing public art and performance.
