An Initiative by MIT Group Foundation, The United Nepali Diaspora Organisation (UNDO) is excited to announce the Future Roots – Start up Awards 2025, inviting Nepali and Nepali Diaspora entrepreneurs to present their groundbreaking start ups for a more sustainable and innovative future of Nepal.
Focus Areas
- Sustainable Agriculture: Solutions aimed at improving the agricultural sector through eco-friendly practices, resource optimisation, and waste reduction.
- Renewable Energy: Innovation in clean, renewable energy technologies and solutions.
- Technology for Sustainability: Digital or tech-based solutions that help industries or communities become more sustainable.
- Social Impact: Startups that provide innovative solutions for social challenges in Nepal, including healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation.
- Made in Nepal: Innovative and sustainable approach in creating and championing Made in Nepal products that are ethical and hand made.
Funding Information
- Grants and Incentives:
- 1st prize winner will receive a grant of 1.5 lakh rupees NPR
- 2nd prize winner will receive a grant of 1 lakh rupees NPR
- 3rd prize winner will receive a grant of 50,000 rupees NPR
- Exposure: Opportunities for media coverage, partnership introductions, and exposure to potential clients and investors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to Nepali & Nepali Diaspora companies that are officially registered.
- Startups should focus on creating solutions that promote sustainability, environmental responsibility, and/or innovation within their industry.
- Participating companies must have a clear, actionable business plan and be in the early stages of their startup journey.
- Businesses that have been in operation for less than 3 years only.
Judging Criteria
- Innovation: How unique and creative is the solution?
- Sustainability Impact: How will the solution promote long-term environmental and social benefits?
- Feasibility & Scalability: Does the business have a practical plan for growth and market entry?
- Team & Execution: Does the team have the necessary skills and vision to execute the plan?
