Request for Applications: Timbuktoo Creative Ideation Programme

The Timbuktoo Creatives Ideation Programme is designed to transform promising creative ideas into investable, sustainable ventures.

Targeting early-stage founders from across Africa’s creative industries, the programme provides structure to validate concepts, build entrepreneurial capabilities, and prepare participants for market entry and funding opportunities.

The 6-week programme is fully virtual and Pan-African. Participants will engage in two live online sessions per week, mentorship and peer feedback and Online assignments and community engagement. All sessions will be delivered in English. A stable internet connection and device for virtual sessions are required. Selected participants are expected to commit 5–8 hours per week.

    • Live interactive sessions twice a week covering core business and creative topics
  • Mentorship
    • Group mentorship sessions and one-on-one guidance from industry experts

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants
    • Creative entrepreneurs at the ideation or prototype stage
    • Individuals or teams with well-articulated ideas
    • Applicants aged 18–35 (priority given to youth and women)
    • Residents of:  Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Zambia

Additional Criteria

  • Demonstrated originality and potential for scalability
  • Passion, creativity, and coachability
  • Commitment to fully participating in the 6-week programme

Sector Requirements

  • Open to diverse creative industries including:
    • Audio-visual
    • Design (graphic, fashion, industrial, architecture, interior)
    • Music (recording, live, instruments, festivals, production)
    • Multi-media
    • Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation

Business Criteria

  • Pre-revenue or early prototype ventures
  • Strong potential for growth and ecosystem integration
  • Not currently in another incubation/acceleration programme
