Deadline: September 17, 2026
The focus areas of the programme include circular economy innovation, construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration, electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, circular economy in the textile industry, digital solutions for the circular economy, strengthening innovation ecosystems, and improving interregional cooperation.
RIVCircular is a project co-funded by the European Commission under Horizon Europe to strengthen collaboration between participating territories and accelerate innovation across European innovation ecosystems. The initiative supports Austria through circular economy projects in the Vienna region.
The programme will provide cascade funding through an Interregional Innovation Call covering five thematic topics. These include construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration using local waste streams, electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, circular economy in the textile industry, and digital solutions for the circular economy.
The total budget available under the call is €12,350,000. Each entity may request funding of up to €600,000 in total, even if it submits multiple proposals across different topics within the same call.
Eligible applicants include small, medium-sized, and large enterprises with an existing or planned establishment in Vienna. Founders planning to establish a permanent business presence in Vienna must demonstrate that the establishment will be created within six months of funding approval. Non-profit entities are not eligible to apply.
The funding is provided as grants. Eligible internal personnel costs for Vienna-based entities receive an additional 20% indirect cost allowance to cover overhead expenses such as administration, office operations, maintenance, accounting, payroll, and IT services.
