The focus areas include resilient and low-emission development across agriculture, energy, water, waste management, transport, early warning systems, health, and other climate-related sectors, with emphasis on climate adaptation, climate mitigation, AI-enabled solutions, open-source innovation, and strengthening resilience in LDCs and SIDS.
It seeks scalable, AI-driven solutions that demonstrate real or potential impact in addressing climate challenges faced by vulnerable regions. The competition is open to individuals above 18 years of age who are developing open-source AI solutions contributing to climate action in eligible regions.
Participants benefit from global visibility and engagement opportunities. The award winner receives travel and accommodation support to present their solution at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, along with international exposure at a major climate conference, networking opportunities with key stakeholders, and media coverage through UNFCCC communication channels.
Finalists receive travel support to the AICA Forum 2026, visibility on the award platform, media exposure, and structured coaching to refine their live pitch delivery. Semifinalists are provided visibility on official platforms, media outreach support, video production coaching for a 90-second presentation, post-production assistance, and training on digital public goods through the Digital Public Goods Alliance Secretariat.
Eligibility Criteria includes being 18 years or older, submitting an open-source AI-powered solution, and ensuring the solution addresses climate adaptation and/or mitigation challenges in Least Developed Countries and/or Small Island Developing States. Submissions must clearly demonstrate the use of AI in tackling climate-related issues across relevant sectors.
