The focus areas of the programme include circular economy innovation, construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration, electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, circular economy in the textile industry, digital solutions for circular economy, strengthening interregional innovation ecosystems, and improving cooperation between participating territories.
RIVCircular is a project co-funded by the European Commission under Horizon Europe to strengthen innovation ecosystems and collaboration between participating regions across Europe. The initiative supports Ukraine by promoting circular economy innovation through an interregional cascade funding programme.
The programme offers funding across five thematic topics. These include construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration through the use of local waste streams, electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, circular economy solutions for the textile industry, and digital solutions for the circular economy.
The total budget available under the call is €12,350,000. Each entity may request funding of up to €600,000 in total, even if it submits multiple proposals across different topics within the same call.
Eligible applicants include public and private bodies, universities, research centres, corporations, SMEs, and other business organisations that are legally registered and operating in the Kyiv region. Applicants must carry out their primary project activities within the region. Research organisations may receive funding of up to 70% of eligible costs for non-commercial activities, while recoverable VAT is not eligible for public funding.
