Climate Justice and Humanitarian Response, including climate change adaptation and resilience building, agroecology and sustainable food systems, renewable energy and energy justice, natural resource governance, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian preparedness, humanitarian response and recovery, community-led climate solutions, and climate finance and loss and damage advocacy. Governance, Accountability and Social Justice, including citizen participation, civic engagement, social accountability, anti-corruption initiatives, access to justice, media and development programming, transparency, and public service delivery monitoring.
Women’s Rights, Youth Empowerment and Decent Work, including women’s economic empowerment, youth livelihoods and employment, gender equality, feminist programming, prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence, leadership development for women and youth, and Women Peace & Security.
Refugee and Humanitarian Programming, including refugee livelihoods and self-reliance, social cohesion, protection and safeguarding, durable solutions, resilience programming, refugee-led development initiatives, and community systems strengthening. Research, Learning and Innovation, including participatory action research, evidence generation, policy analysis, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), digital innovations, knowledge management, documentation, and strategic communications.
Through this opportunity, AAIU aims to build a network of competent and values-driven partners who can support programme implementation, advocacy, research, humanitarian response, policy engagement, evidence generation, and resource mobilization under its Country Strategy Paper VI (CSP 6: 2025–2029).
The call is open to civil society organizations, community-based organizations, refugee-led organizations, women-led organizations, youth-led organizations, social movements, academic institutions, private sector actors, and other development partners committed to advancing people-led social justice.
Organizations applying for partnership opportunities should demonstrate experience and capacity in their respective thematic areas, strong governance systems, financial accountability, donor project management experience, and commitment to safeguarding, gender equality, inclusion, and human rights-based approaches.
Eligible organizations must be legally registered and operating in Uganda. Civil society and community-based organizations should have a minimum of five years of relevant operational experience and demonstrate technical expertise in at least one priority area. Refugee-led and grassroots organizations should demonstrate community legitimacy, recognized governance structures, and experience delivering community-based initiatives.
Academic and research institutions should have expertise in research, evidence generation, policy analysis, and knowledge products, while private sector actors and social enterprises should demonstrate social impact approaches, innovative solutions, and compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Applicants are required to submit an organizational profile, registration certificate, governance structure and Board composition, strategic plan, audited financial statements for the last two years, safeguarding policy, anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy, gender policy, evidence of relevant projects, and at least three references from previous or current donors or partners.
