The focus areas of the programme include circular economy innovation, construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration, electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, circular economy in the textile industry, digital solutions for circular economy, interregional innovation ecosystems, and sustainable resource management.
The RIVCircular project is co-funded by the European Commission under Horizon Europe and aims to strengthen connections and cooperation between participating territories while addressing innovation gaps across the European Union.
The project promotes circular economy development in Spain by supporting collaborative innovation activities and improving interregional innovation ecosystems through targeted funding opportunities.
Through this open call, cascade funding is made available under five thematic areas, including construction and demolition waste circularity, circular energy integration using local waste streams, EV battery recycling and reuse, circular textile economy solutions, and digital innovations supporting circular economy transitions.
The total budget available under the call is €12,350,000. Each entity may request funding of up to €600,000 in total, even if it submits multiple proposals across different topics within the same call.
Eligible applicants include public bodies, universities, research centres, corporations, SMEs, and other business entities legally based in the Madrid region, provided they operate and implement activities within the region and comply with national eligibility requirements.
Indirect costs of up to 20 percent are eligible for Madrid-based entities, while recoverable VAT is excluded from funding eligibility. Subcontracting costs are not included in indirect cost calculations.
