Deadline Date: February 13, 2026
The Feasibility Study scheme is inviting grant applications to support enterprises in researching their proposed business or new business idea to determine its viability, sustainability, and resource requirements.
The scheme targets projects in the areas identified in Malta’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) 2021–2027, including Health and Well-being, Sustainable Use of Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Smart Manufacturing, Marine & Maritime Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, and Future Digital Technologies. It aligns with Policy Objective 1 of the SFC2021 Programme 2021–2027 to promote innovative and smart economic transformation, regional ICT connectivity, entrepreneurship, and the economic exploitation of new ideas, while fostering research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies.
The Feasibility Study is designed to help enterprises reach firm conclusions about their business concept, evaluate the resources required, and assess the prospects for success. It aims to stimulate research, creativity, and innovation (RCI) capacities, increase gross RCD expenditure as a percentage of GDP, and foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship across Malta’s economy.
The scheme remains effective until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds, with an initial budget of €2,000,000 to support Feasibility Studies. The maximum grant per undertaking is €100,000, and if more than one application is approved for a single undertaking, the total funding cannot exceed this limit.
Eligible undertakings include Micro, Small, Medium-sized, and Small Mid-Cap Enterprises engaged in economic activities, irrespective of legal form, provided they have legal personality or are registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta). The scheme aims to strengthen Malta’s RCI landscape, support innovative business development, and foster sustainable economic growth.
