Deadline Date: February 13, 2026
The SME Programme offers funding opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK’s aerospace sector, supporting the development of cutting-edge technologies in line with the UK Aerospace Technology Strategy.
The competition is aimed at strengthening the aerospace supply chain by providing grants of up to £1.5 million, with project durations ranging from 12 to 36 months. The primary focus is on technology that can be exploited in the civil aerospace sector within the next five years, though cross-sector applications are encouraged. At least 50% of the total eligible project cost must be allocated to micro, small, and medium-sized organisations (MSMEs) within the consortium. Applications must align with the Destination Zero roadmaps, which define the UK’s strategy for the future of aerospace technology.
This competition is open to UK-registered organisations that are looking to develop innovative technology for the civil aerospace sector. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a consortium. To lead a project, the lead organisation must either be an SME or a larger business with at least one SME in the consortium. All project work must take place within the UK, and the results must be intended for exploitation in or from the UK. Organisations must also sign the ATI SME Programme Agreement and adhere to the specific requirements outlined in the UK’s Aerospace Technology Strategy.
Collaborative applications are encouraged, and project teams can include a range of UK-registered organisations, including businesses of any size, academic institutions, charities, not-for-profits, public sector organisations, and research and technology organisations (RTOs). These organisations must also carry out their project work within the UK and intend to exploit the results from or in the UK.
