Deadline Date: January 29, 2026
The European Commission is now accepting applications for its European Sustainable Energy Awards to promote best practices while increasing awareness of solutions that support Europe’s decarbonisation goals.
The Awards highlight innovative approaches that demonstrate how Europe’s energy system can become more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient. They shine a spotlight on projects and people that are not only addressing today’s energy challenges but also contributing to long-term systemic change.
Each year, the competition brings forward inspiring examples of how creativity, technology, and collaboration can accelerate the clean energy transition. The process culminates in an Awards ceremony held during the Policy Conference, where finalists gain visibility among policymakers, industry leaders, and energy stakeholders from across Europe.
The European Sustainable Energy Awards are open to applications and nominations across three categories. One category focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises that are driving energy efficiency through innovative business or financing models, particularly in buildings and industry. Another recognises local energy action, highlighting grassroots initiatives that are creating tangible progress toward a clean energy future. A third category celebrates women in energy who are making an exceptional impact and helping to lead the transition to sustainable energy systems.
The opportunity is open to SMEs pioneering new ways to make energy upgrades more accessible, affordable, and scalable. It also welcomes local initiatives and projects that advance the objectives of the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal, as well as women who are driving meaningful progress in the clean energy sector.
By participating in the European Sustainable Energy Awards, applicants and nominees gain recognition at a European level and contribute to a growing movement that supports innovation, inclusion, and leadership in the clean energy transition.
