The SME Enhance grant scheme provides funding to SMEs in Malta to improve productivity, competitiveness, and business growth.
The focus areas include supporting enterprise expansion, diversification, innovation, and initial investments aimed at improving productivity. The scheme also promotes entrepreneurship by facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas and the creation of new firms, including through business incubators. Additional priorities include promoting digital transformation, enhancing sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs, and supporting job creation through productive investments.
The grant scheme is designed to help undertakings strengthen their business operations through non-repayable funding that supports investment in activities contributing to innovation and economic growth. It aligns with broader European policy objectives focused on smart economic transformation, digital connectivity, and sustainable development.
The SME Enhance scheme operates under a total allocated budget of €6,000,000. The minimum grant value is €10,000, while the maximum grant value is €128,400, including a 7% flat rate for indirect costs. The scheme will remain effective until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds.
Eligible applicants include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activities, regardless of legal form, as well as eligible start-ups that are micro and small enterprises. Entities without legal personality must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code.
