The Feasibility Study scheme is designed to support enterprises in Malta in assessing the viability and sustainability of new business ideas through research and analysis.
The focus areas include supporting research and innovation activities that contribute to Malta’s Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021–2027, fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity, and strengthening research and innovation capacities. Priority sectors include Health and Well-being, Sustainable Use of Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Smart Manufacturing, Marine and Maritime Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, and Future Digital Technologies.
The scheme aims to help enterprises determine the viability of their business ideas by identifying required resources and assessing long-term prospects for success. It also supports broader investment in research and innovation to enhance economic growth and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The grant provides non-repayable funding to part-finance feasibility studies, with a total allocated budget of €2,000,000. The maximum grant value per undertaking is €100,000, including all approved applications. The scheme remains effective until 31 December 2026, subject to the availability of funds.
Eligible applicants include micro, small, medium-sized, and small mid-cap enterprises engaged in economic activity, regardless of legal form, subject to exclusions. Entities without legal personality must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code.
