The Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs Scheme is seeking applications to support enterprises in strengthening their competitiveness and business credibility by part-financing external services for the development of an internationalisation strategy.
The scheme focuses on supporting the preparation of an Internationalisation Strategy that outlines how a business will promote its products or services, reach target audiences, achieve business objectives, and attract, engage and retain customers while pursuing growth in international markets.
The programme provides non-repayable grants of up to €20,000 to help eligible enterprises procure external services from registered and independent service providers. The funding is intended to support the development of a comprehensive internationalisation strategy that enables businesses to expand their market presence and enhance their long-term growth prospects.
Eligible applicants include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in an economic activity, regardless of their legal form. For applications under Internationalisation Strategy – Part 1, enterprises must demonstrate that they have been actively trading for at least one year as of the application date. Undertakings that do not possess a legal personality through the law applicable to their establishment must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (Chapter 16 of the Laws of Malta).
