The Portugal–France Bilateral Cooperation Programme is inviting applications to support scientific collaboration and mobility projects between Portugal and France.
The focus areas include strengthening interconnectedness and cooperation in science, promoting internationalisation of the National System of Science and Technology, and supporting participation of the national scientific community in international initiatives and bilateral research projects. The programme also focuses on scientific mobility and collaboration across various scientific fields under established cooperation agreements.
The initiative is implemented by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which is responsible for promoting international cooperation and supporting joint scientific and technological projects between both countries. It aims to enhance bilateral research relationships and encourage collaborative scientific development.
The programme supports international mobility projects with a maximum duration of 24 months, renewable annually. Annual funding provided by FCT is €2,500 per project. Projects must be submitted jointly by responsible investigators from both countries and include at least one young researcher aged 40 or below.
Eligible applicants include non-business entities within the National System of Science and Technology, including higher education institutions, state or international laboratories based in Portugal, private non-profit R&D institutions, and other public or private non-profit organisations involved in scientific research activities, as well as companies of any legal form.
Applicants must ensure compliance with eligibility conditions, including designation of a responsible investigator, valid institutional affiliation, and inclusion of required project documentation as per regulations.
