The Basic Program is now accepting grant applications to support companies developing new products, processes, and services through research and development funding.
The program focuses on experimental development, commercial potential, research and development, usable products, processes and services, digital innovations, technology openness, innovation, business transformation, competitiveness, and collaboration with scientific and business partners.
The Basic Program is designed to support companies in developing innovative projects that contribute to their long-term growth and competitiveness. The funding opportunities are open to all technologies and research topics, allowing applicants to define their own research content and key technologies according to their business objectives.
Funding is available for corporate projects in the field of experimental development. Supported projects are expected to result in usable products, processes, or services, including digital innovations. The program aims to strengthen the transformation of Austrian companies and support their position in future markets.
Small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, and large companies are eligible to apply for funding on an ongoing basis. While cooperation with other companies and scientific partners such as university institutes and universities of applied sciences is not mandatory, such collaborations are permitted and may be rewarded. Projects may also involve young researchers.
Financial support is provided through a combination of grants and loans. For larger projects, guarantees for bank loans and loan cost subsidies may also be available. In many federal states, the funding can be supplemented by additional state-level support.
Funding volumes of up to €3 million per project are possible. Funding generally covers around 50% of project costs, while start-ups, including those in the founding phase, may receive up to 70% of project costs. The final funding rate depends primarily on the size of the company.
