Deadline Date: August 10, 2026
The Scottish Government’s Global Solidarity Fund (GSF) aims to strengthen an informed, engaged and active global citizenship community in Scotland.
The focus areas of the fund include strengthening small civil society organisations, supporting capacity development, enabling international partnerships, promoting global citizenship engagement, and advancing locally led development approaches through international collaboration.
The fund provides three types of grants aimed at supporting different aspects of civil society development and engagement. The Scottish Civil Society Organisation Strengthening Grant offers funding of up to £10,000 to support organisational resilience and effectiveness for small Scottish CSOs working internationally in medium- or low-development countries. The Global Citizenship Engagement Grant provides up to £5,000 for small charities and social enterprises, and up to £2,000 for unaffiliated groups to increase public engagement and understanding of global citizenship in Scotland. The Shifting the Power Grant offers up to £50,000 to support partnerships between Scottish CSOs and organisations in Malawi, Zambia, or Rwanda to promote locally led development approaches.
Eligible applicants include legally constituted Scottish charities, SCIOs, social enterprises, and not-for-profit associations with annual incomes below £200,000. Depending on the grant type, applicants must either work in countries with medium or low development status, engage the public in Scotland on global issues, or apply in partnership with organisations in Malawi, Zambia, or Rwanda.
The fund aims to empower small organisations to become more resilient, expand their global partnerships, and increase community engagement with international development and global solidarity issues.
