Deadline Date: July 24, 2026
The AYuTe Africa Challenge Uganda Season is currently accepting applications to promote innovative agritech and agribusiness solutions led by young entrepreneurs in Uganda.
The focus areas of the challenge include agritech innovation, precision and climate-smart production, livestock and aquaculture technology, post-harvest solutions, farm mechanization and energy, digital market and finance innovations, small-scale processing into market-ready products, and youth-led green and circular agribusinesses.
The AYuTe Africa Challenge Uganda Season 5 is a national platform for young innovators aged 18 to 35 who are creating solutions that address challenges in agriculture. The challenge encourages participants to develop innovations that strengthen agricultural value chains and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across Uganda.
The challenge is organised under two competition tracks. The AgriTech track is a national competition for youth-led technology ventures that have moved beyond the concept stage and are developing practical solutions for farmers, agribusinesses, and agricultural value chain actors. Eligible startups must be less than three years old, demonstrate demand for their innovation, and have the potential to scale nationally.
The Agribusiness track is designed for young entrepreneurs in the Busoga sub-region. It focuses on businesses involved in processing agricultural produce into market-ready products and enterprises that convert agricultural waste and losses into income-generating opportunities through green and circular business models.
Winners will receive catalytic financing totaling UGX 205,000,000, along with mentorship, incubation, and opportunities to connect with a wider innovation ecosystem. The AgriTech overall winner will receive UGX 50,000,000 and six months of incubation mentorship, while runners-up and women innovators will receive cash awards and additional mentoring support. Agribusiness winners will also receive funding, incubation, mentorship, market linkages, and compliance support.
Applicants for the AgriTech track must be Ugandan youth aged 18 to 35 with a technology-based innovation at prototype stage or beyond, addressing the specified challenge areas, and operating a startup or business that is less than five years old. Applicants for the Agribusiness track must be Ugandan youth aged 18 to 35 based in the Busoga sub-region, operating an agribusiness with at least six months of trading history, and be founders or co-founders of a small or micro enterprise. Women, persons with disabilities, and innovators from underserved regions are strongly encouraged to apply.
