The C4B Open Call supports businesses in validating and adapting innovative business models within bioeconomy value chains through targeted financial assistance.
The focus areas of the call include validating business models developed in the C4B project, assessing the feasibility of implementing business models in specific business cases, tailoring business models to specific needs, supporting scalability and replicability of business models, analysing drivers and barriers in applying, scaling up and replicating business models, developing insights for policy recommendations, promoting sustainable and fair business model scaling, and supporting valorisation of by-products in forestry and agri-food value chains including biorefinery applications.
The main objective of the C4B Open Call is to demonstrate the applicability, scalability, and replicability of generalised business models developed within the project across different business settings and geographical areas. It also aims to stimulate uptake of these business models by helping businesses assess feasibility and adapt models to their specific needs.
The scope of the call focuses on the valorisation of by-products within forestry and agri-food value chains. In forestry, this includes woody by-products from forestry and sawmilling for production of biocarbon, volatile aromatic compounds, and pyrolysis oil. In agri-food, it includes agricultural and processing by-products for production of platform chemicals such as HMF and FDCA, polyphenols and bioactive ingredients from winemaking residues, and biochar from agricultural and processing by-products.
The total budget of the call is €480,000, with a maximum funding of €60,000 per project. The expected project duration is up to 12 months.
Eligible applicants include legal entities such as SMEs, start-ups, spin-offs, and research organisations. Applications may be submitted by consortia of up to three partners.
