Deadline: October 20, 2025
The Future Generation Women (FGW) Access to Work opportunity is a national grant program designed to unlock increased participation by women and advance economic equality and opportunity for Australian women and their children.
FGW aims to advance economic equality and opportunity for Australian women and their children. FGW will progressively provide philanthropic funding to enhance access to work for women most impacted by economic inequality, improve financial literacy and confidence among girls and young women, and enable positive gender norm formation among girls, boys, and young adults. The initiative focuses on supporting more women to be employed in decent work, increasing women’s business ownership and profitability, and addressing the specific needs and aspirations of women impacted by intersectional disadvantage, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women with a disability, migrants and refugees, single mothers and carers, rural and regional women, older women in poverty, and women who have been incarcerated. The program also commits to supporting holistic and bundled approaches involving peer support, mentoring, addressing barriers such as housing, childcare, health, and ensuring that outcomes are lasting and impactful.
The Access to Work grant round will award approximately 1 million AUD as a once-off untied grant to 5 to 10 non-profit organisations whose work aligns with the evidence base on what supports access to work for women facing the greatest barriers. Organisations must have a strong focus on improving women’s access to employment or entrepreneurship, and are required to demonstrate lasting impact, experience working with those most impacted by economic inequality, and the ability to address a range of structural barriers faced by women across Australia. Preference is given to projects based on existing collaborations and those that can scale up proven effective work rather than start new initiatives. Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations are strongly encouraged to apply, with recognition of flexibility in organisational size for these applicants.
Selected organisations are expected to participate in impact measurement via the Seer Data Analytics platform, and will contribute to a growing body of knowledge on effective practice. Over time, learnings from this grant round will inform multi-year partnerships with a smaller number of organisations from 2028 onwards. The FGW program seeks to foster courageous, collaborative, and evidence-informed organisations with solid impact growth plans and a commitment to sharing best practices.
