The SCENIC Creative Grant is designed to stimulate the Sabahan creative and film industry by funding short films that highlight unique cultural, social, and innovative narratives.
It can be used for script/concept development and pre-production, production costs (equipment rental, 3rd party services with quotation/invoice), post-production (editing, sound, VFX, etc.), and marketing, distribution, and festival submission fees.
It cannot be used for purchase of permanent equipment and personal/unrelated expenses.
This grant provides Sabah-based individuals, companies, or creative collectives an opportunity to bring their stories to life through meaningful projects. To participate, applicants must submit a complete application that includes a profile and portfolio of the applicant or team, script, story concept, or comic outline with synopsis, a production plan with budget estimate, and details of team roles and experiences. While optional, a distribution, festival, or commercialization plan is highly encouraged to strengthen the application.
Recipients of the grant are also required to credit SCENIC in their final work, ensure that the content is made available for local screening or exhibition, and take part in SCENIC’s promotional activities as part of their commitment. Eligible works include films, animations, or comics that resonate with Sabah’s culture and identity.
