Innovation Funding is available to assist small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing innovative products, technologies, and services.
The focus is on personnel costs for the development and implementation of innovative solutions, consulting and development costs, patent costs, investments for required machines and equipment, as well as costs for intellectual property rights and licenses. Funding also covers structural modifications or materials for the construction of prototypes. Eligible costs include costs for personnel and external services, for the acquisition of necessary hardware, digital communication systems, machines, devices, installations, and systems as well as software and licenses, and non-personnel and material costs.
Innovation Funding supports projects with a minimum value of 30,000 euros and a maximum funding amount of 300,000 euros per development proposal. Small businesses can receive a funding rate of 45%, while medium-sized enterprises can receive 35%. Up to 50% of the approved funding can be paid upfront. Development proposals can be implemented with a maximum project duration of 2 years. Existing SMEs, companies being founded, universities, universities of Applied Sciences, associations, independent research institutes, and institutes in the field of education and social work can apply or participate as project partners.
Additional benefits include bonuses such as a women’s bonus of 10,000 euros for proposals managed by a qualified woman and a startup bonus of 5,000 euros if a new company is founded as part of the project. Submissions are assessed by an independent jury, and applicants are required to submit a duly completed application along with an application confirmation, a de minimis declaration, and their latest financial or income statements.
