Deadline: February 09, 2026
The ninth edition of The Liveability Challenge invites innovators worldwide to submit groundbreaking solutions that tackle climate-induced extreme weather conditions for a more liveable planet.
The focus areas for the Cool Earth theme include heat mitigation and nature-based solutions that enhance mitigation, resilience, and adaptation to extreme weather events. Innovations may provide large-scale cooling benefits or adaptive solutions across diverse industries, including climate-smart and climate-resilient food and agriculture, advanced materials for cooling such as nano-coatings and films, as well as blue carbon initiatives like seaweed cultivation and mangrove restoration for coastal communities. Green carbon projects, including bamboo cultivation and low-methane agriculture, are also encouraged. Eligible projects should be at or above Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6, have already achieved proof of concept, and be applicable to Singapore or Southeast Asia.
The Cool Earth theme of The Liveability Challenge seeks innovations that help societies withstand the growing impacts of climate change, particularly extreme heat. Solutions may include technologies that reduce temperatures in urban areas, materials designed to cool buildings or infrastructure, or adaptive systems that protect vulnerable populations from heat stress.
Nature-based solutions are also central to this theme. Projects that restore mangroves, cultivate bamboo, or support sustainable agriculture contribute to building climate-resilient communities. Innovations that generate blue or green carbon benefits are encouraged, especially if they can be scaled to benefit coastal or urban environments.
Selected projects must have already achieved proof of concept and be at least at Technology Readiness Level 6. While teams can be based anywhere globally, proposals must be applicable to Singapore or Southeast Asia, particularly for nature-based solutions. The top two solutions in the Cool Earth category will each receive S$1 Million in grant funding to accelerate their impact.
The Liveability Challenge provides not only funding but also ecosystem support, mentoring, and exposure, giving innovators the resources to scale their solutions from prototype to market. Join this global platform to showcase your ideas and contribute to a more sustainable and liveable world.
