The Open Startup is now accepting applications to support innovative startups driving technology and deep tech solutions across Africa.
The focus areas include DeepTech ventures based on scientific, engineering, or technological breakthroughs; Tech-Enabled Startups that use technology to solve market challenges and create opportunities; Climate and Sustainability, including AgriteTech, CleanTech, Renewable Energy, WaterTech, Circular Economy, Waste Management, and related sustainability innovations; AI and Emerging Technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, SaaS, and AI-enabled ventures; Health and Well-being, including HealthTech, MedTech, BioTech, Diagnostics, Telemedicine, and related health innovation solutions; and other high-impact sectors such as FinTech, EdTech, Logistics and Supply Chain, and other technology-enabled ventures.
Open Startup is offering two programme tracks under its 2026 call. The Open Startup Pre-Seed Track is designed for startups that are validating their solutions, while the Open Startup Seed Track is intended for startups preparing to scale their operations.
The programme is seeking startups that are building technology-based solutions to address demonstrated challenges across the African continent. Applications are open to both DeepTech ventures and technology-enabled startups that leverage innovation to improve efficiency, accessibility, and business opportunities.
To be eligible, applicants must be incorporated in an African country, operate primarily in Africa, demonstrate proficiency in English, have a committed founding team, be available to actively participate in programme activities, and submit a complete application.
