Deadline Date: April 17, 2026
The Open Energy Lab II edition Call aims to support the development of innovative solutions in the energy sector by fostering collaboration between SMEs, startups, market players, and investors.
The key objectives of the call include supporting the creation of a technological and industrial supply chain in Lazio dedicated to innovations for the energy transition, particularly in critical segments such as hydrogen, storage systems, photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, energy efficiency, smart grids, and nuclear; promoting collaboration between companies to accelerate the development of solutions and technologies through matchmaking platforms; and strengthening support for innovative SMEs and startups during critical phases such as matchmaking with corporates and venture capital investors and during scale-up.
The initiative outlines several structured actions designed to support selected companies. One of the central activities is the Energy Innovation Day, scheduled for May 7, 2026 in Rome, where selected participants will engage in pitching sessions and matchmaking meetings with market operators and investors. To prepare for this event, companies will undergo targeted training focused on improving pitching skills and facilitating effective B2B interactions.
In addition, selected companies may take part in an Empowerment Path aimed at strengthening their organizational structure and enhancing market development capabilities. There are also opportunities for participation in industry events across the European Union, such as those held in Brussels, allowing companies to gain broader exposure and networking opportunities.
A digital catalogue will also be created, featuring all selected companies. This catalogue will be shared with event participants and disseminated through Lazio Innova’s communication channels, increasing visibility for the participating organizations.
This initiative is part of the Lazio Region Project under PR Lazio FESR 2021/2027, aimed at strengthening sustainable growth, competitiveness of SMEs, and job creation through productive investments. It builds upon previous efforts, including the earlier Call4Innovation and the development of a Position Paper mapping key energy innovation needs, reinforcing the region’s commitment to advancing the energy transition through open innovation and ecosystem collaboration.
The call is open to businesses that have developed innovative solutions with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of at least 6, specifically addressing the challenges of the energy transition.
