Deadline Date: March 12, 2026
The Innobooster programme by Innovation Fund Denmark supports small and medium-sized enterprises in Denmark to accelerate knowledge-based innovation and develop sustainable solutions to societal challenges.
The programme focuses on strengthening knowledge-based innovation in Danish SMEs, including startups, through challenge-driven and risk-laden development activities. It prioritizes projects that create innovative solutions such as new products, services, or processes, which enhance commercial competitiveness and generate positive societal impact. Funding can be applied toward employee hours, project-related expenses, collaboration with knowledge providers, and recruitment or assignment of specialised staff for project execution. The Innobooster grant provides co-financing of up to 35%, with investment amounts ranging from DKK 1.0 million to DKK 5.0 million for projects spanning up to two years, qualifying as either “experimental development” or “industrial research” under EU General Block Exemption Regulations.
Eligible applicants include Danish-registered SMEs with fewer than 250 employees and annual turnover not exceeding EUR 50 million, or a total balance below EUR 43 million. The applicant company must be the sole legal entity responsible for the project and retain all business-related benefits. Companies undergoing compulsory dissolution, bankruptcy, majority state ownership, receiving excessive public operational subsidies, or considered “in difficulty” under EU regulations are excluded. Innobooster encourages diversity in team composition, including ethnicity, gender, disability, neurodiversity, age, nationality, and across technical, natural sciences, health, humanities, and social sciences disciplines.
Through Innobooster, companies can reduce the extraordinary risk associated with developing innovative solutions, foster collaboration with knowledge providers, and accelerate the market readiness of high-impact, sustainable projects, ultimately contributing to Denmark’s global innovation potential and societal progress.
