Proudly initiated by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Business Gateway and backed by the UK Government’s Share Prosperity Fund, ESF24 is designed to nurture businesses from inception through to the first 12 months of operation.
Their goal is to stimulate the local economy by supporting business growth, employment, online expansion, and export opportunities. They’re here to help safeguard existing jobs and create new ones.
Funding Information
- This grant can cover 50% of the allowable costs up to a £3,000 maximum award.
What they Fund?
- The ESF24 grant is tailored for capital investments such as equipment purchases, initial shop or workshop setup, website development, and signage. Please note that stock and working capital are not eligible.
Eligibility Criteria
- You can apply for the ESF24 grant before registering for self-employment or starting a company, and you can apply if you have registered self-employed for the first time or started a Limited company, within the last 12 months.
Evaluation Criteria
- To be considered for the grant, your application should highlight:
- Market demand for your product or service
- Potential for job creation
- Project feasibility and sustainability
- Clear, attainable, and measurable objectives
- The necessity of funding to launch or grow your business
- Each application is evaluated by their funding panel, ensuring that grants are awarded based on the strength and viability of your business plan and cash flow projections.
Application Requirements
- A self-certification that you intend to be full self-employed within 12 months (if you have not yet started)
- A robust Business Plan, with support from a Business Gateway Advisor
- Your UTR code on HMRC documentation or Company Registration certificate before a grant can be paid
- Valid identification (driving licence or passport)
- Proof of residential address (utility or council tax bill)
- For business premises, your Non Domestic Rates reference.
- Supplier quotes for intended purchases
- A business bank account statement (or personal account used for business)
