The Realization of Short Animated Films is currently accepting applications to support the production of original and high-quality short animated films for diverse audiences in the Netherlands.
The focus areas of this scheme include short animated film production, support for emerging and experienced animators, promotion of original and independent storytelling, use of diverse animation techniques, development of creative film teams, support for figurative and abstract animation, and strengthening animation as an autonomous art form.
The scheme encourages the creation of high-quality short animated films for cinema audiences, supporting both emerging and established animators. It is designed to foster originality, creativity, and artistic independence in animated storytelling across a wide range of styles and techniques.
The scheme is open to films of up to 60 minutes in length, covering both figurative and abstract works created using any animation technique. It is intended for creative teams consisting of a producer, director, and screenwriter working together on independent productions.
Funding is available in two categories. A maximum of €110,000 can be awarded for films with a duration of up to 15 minutes, while films between 15 and 60 minutes may receive up to €165,000. The fund contribution covers up to 85 percent of the total production budget. An additional €5,000 may be requested for distribution support.
Eligible applicants must be independent production companies established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, or in an EU member state, the EEA, or Switzerland, and must have been active in continuous film and audiovisual production for at least two years.
