The Netherlands Film Production Incentive Programme offers to support Dutch and international film productions through financial incentives that strengthen the film sector, collaboration, and talent development.
The focus areas of this programme include film production support, strengthening the Dutch film industry, support for majority and minority film productions, development of film talent, promotion of diversity and quality in film, international co-production collaboration, technical and creative workforce development, and distribution of film productions.
The scheme aims to increase the attractiveness of the Dutch film sector for both majority and minority film productions while boosting production activity among creative and technical professionals and film companies in the Netherlands. It also supports talent development and encourages diversity, quality, and wider distribution of films.
The incentive promotes collaboration between Dutch and international producers and is intended for feature films, long documentaries, and feature-length animated films. It encourages project-based cooperation to strengthen creativity, business exchange, and international visibility of Dutch-linked productions.
The programme offers a cash rebate of up to 35 percent on qualifying production costs incurred in the Netherlands. Eligible productions are those that contribute value to the Dutch film sector and encourage cooperation with Dutch companies. The maximum support available is up to €3 million per year per production company, with a total annual budget of €20 million in 2026.
Applications are assessed based on strict financial, legal, and business criteria using an automated scoring system and an independence test.
Eligible applicants must be independent production companies established in the Netherlands, including Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, or in an EU member state, EEA country, or Switzerland, and must have been active in continuous audiovisual production for at least two years. The producer representing the company must have led at least one majority film production with a minimum budget of €500,000 and a theatrical release in the Netherlands within the past seven years.
