The Collaborative Innovation Projects for Healthy and Resilient Communities call invites public sector organizations, businesses, academia, research institutes, and civil society actors in Sweden to develop and test innovative solutions that strengthen health, resilience, preparedness, and sustainable societal development through cross-sector collaboration.
The program focuses on health and life sciences, food systems, community development, emergency preparedness, civil defense, public-private collaboration, innovation capacity building, sustainable working methods, system innovation, innovation dissemination, resilient communities, societal adaptability, crisis management, and business competitiveness.
The initiative responds to growing global challenges related to health, climate, and security. It seeks to support the development of societies that can both promote wellbeing and effectively respond to change, disruptions, and crises. By encouraging collaboration among different sectors, the program aims to foster innovative solutions that address complex societal needs and strengthen the resilience of social systems.
Funding is available for projects that establish or deepen partnerships, develop innovative approaches, and test solutions in real-world settings. Eligible projects may focus on one or more thematic areas, including health and life sciences, food systems, civil engineering and community development, as well as emergency preparedness and civil defense.
A resilient society is characterized by its ability to prevent, manage, and adapt to change while maintaining essential societal functions. The program therefore supports initiatives that contribute to stronger and more adaptable systems capable of responding to future challenges and uncertainties.
The call seeks to accelerate the dissemination of innovations and encourage the development of system-level solutions that can generate broader societal benefits. At the same time, it aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the business sector while enhancing the public sector’s capacity to develop, adopt, and implement innovative solutions.
Projects must be carried out through collaboration between at least one public sector organization and at least one business entity. Eligible public sector participants include municipalities, municipal and regional associations, regions, and state public authorities. Companies must participate as project partners, while organizations from academia, research institutes, and civil society are also encouraged to contribute to project implementation.
Projects may be funded for a duration of 18 to 24 months. Each project can receive up to SEK 2 million in funding, and approximately 40 projects are expected to be supported through this call.
Through this initiative, the program seeks to promote stronger collaboration across sectors, stimulate innovation, and contribute to healthier, more resilient communities capable of addressing current and future societal challenges.
