Deadline Date: September 09, 2026
The Brazil and Norway Call for Research and Development Projects 2026 supports international collaborative R&D projects aimed at developing innovative products, processes, or services with strong commercialisation potential.
The call focuses on petroleum-related technologies for the offshore petroleum industry, environmentally friendly energy, renewable energy production based on solar, wind, ocean, hydropower, bioenergy and other thermal energy sources, hydrogen and hydrogen-based energy carriers, biofuels, green shipping, low- and zero-emission marine fuels, portside low- and zero-emission infrastructure, route and navigational technology, digitalisation and efficiency adaptation, vessel design and energy usage, and operational innovation including low- and zero-emission commercial and compliance modelling.
The initiative encourages bilateral cooperation between organizations in Brazil and Norway to advance research and innovation across strategic industrial and environmental sectors. Projects may address one or more of the thematic areas and interdisciplinary or cross-sectoral approaches are also welcomed.
Supported projects should demonstrate clear potential to research or develop innovative products, processes, or services that can be commercialised. All proposed activities must serve a civilian purpose and contribute to strengthening innovation partnerships between the participating countries.
The duration of each bilateral project must be between two and four years. Applications are accepted from research institutions, and each project consortium must include at least one eligible Brazilian research institution, one Brazilian company, one eligible Norwegian research institution, and one Norwegian company.
To be eligible, project proposals must represent genuine international cooperation through a specific collaborative project. The consortium must include at least two independent legal entities from a minimum of two participating countries, with mandatory participation from both Brazil and Norway. Organizations from non-participating countries may also join the consortium provided they secure their own funding before the application deadline.
The funding program requires balanced collaboration among project partners. No single organization or country may account for more than 70 percent of the total project budget, ensuring meaningful participation from all consortium members.
