Deadline Date: June 18, 2026
The European Film Sales Funding Program supports the wider transnational distribution of recent European films by providing financial assistance to European sales agents for the acquisition, promotion, and distribution of non-national European films.
The program focuses on improving the transnational distribution of recent non-national European films, increasing investment in the production, acquisition, promotion, theatrical and online distribution of non-national European films, developing stronger links between the production and distribution sectors, enhancing the market position of non-national European films, and supporting the acquisition, marketing, advertising, and international sales of eligible European films.
This funding opportunity is designed to strengthen the circulation of European audiovisual works across borders and expand access to non-national European films in international markets. Support is provided to European sales agents based on their market performance, enabling them to reinvest in activities that contribute to the commercial success and visibility of European films.
The funding mechanism operates in two phases. The first phase involves the generation of a potential fund, which is allocated according to the company’s performance in the European market. The second phase requires the reinvestment of the generated fund in eligible activities, including minimum guarantees or advances paid for international sales rights of eligible non-national European films, as well as promotion, marketing, and advertising activities aimed at increasing their market reach.
Through this approach, the program seeks to encourage greater investment in the European film sector while fostering stronger collaboration between producers and distributors. The initiative ultimately aims to improve the competitiveness and visibility of European films beyond their national markets.
The maximum grant amount available under the program is €750,000 per project.
Eligible applicants must be legal entities, either public or private bodies, established in one of the Creative Europe Participating Countries and fully participating in the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe Programme. Applicants must be European Sales Agents, meaning European companies acting as intermediary agents for producers and specializing in the commercial exploitation of films through marketing and licensing activities in foreign territories. They must be directly appointed by the producer through a written international sales agreement granting the right to sell the film in at least ten countries participating in the MEDIA strand. Only single-applicant submissions are permitted, although affiliated entities and other participants may be involved where necessary.
