The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, is inviting proposals under the Innovation Boost Grant (IBG) scheme and the Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (CRIGS).
Under this Call for Proposals, the ‘Innovation Boost Grant’ is aimed at supporting short-term innovative projects in specific thematic areas. The ultimate objective of any proposed project should be the development or improvement of products, processes or techniques that will benefit the economy or provide potential solutions to the identified national challenges.
Under the Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (CRIGS), a local company in partnership with a local Academic/Research/Tertiary Education Institutions can submit applications for innovative, collaborative research and development projects with commercial potential. This scheme aims to improve the competitiveness of Mauritius through collaboration between Research and Industry.

- Proposals must be aligned with thematic areas identified following Les Assises de la Recherche et de l’Innovation 2.0 held in January 2025.

- Creative Industry and e-Innovation
- Precision Engineering & Manufacturing Innovation

Funding Information
- Under the Innovation Boost Grant (IBG) scheme – Eligibility for a grant of up to MUR 1 million for a project with a duration of no more than 12 months.
- Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (CRIGS) – Eligibility for a matching grant of up to MUR 5 million for a project with a duration of no more than 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Innovation Boost Grant:
- The main applicant must be one of the following:
- A Company (including MSMEs, large enterprises) registered for at least one year with the Registrar of Companies in the Republic of Mauritius.
- An Organisation/Association, including Non-Governmental Organisations registered with the Registrar of Associations in the Republic of Mauritius for at least one year.
- An Academic Institution (recognised/accredited tertiary education institutions or Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions) registered with the Higher Education Commission for at least one year.
- A Public/Private Research Institution in the Republic of Mauritius registered with the relevant authority for at least one year.
- A Government Institution or Parastatal Body.
- Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme:
- The main applicant must be a company registered for at least one year. The company must have a research collaborator from the public and/or private Academic/Research/Tertiary/Higher Education Institution(s) which is involved in research.
