Eureka invites applications for funding of international R&D projects jointly led by French and South Korean companies to develop innovative products, processes, or services for commercialisation in areas such as semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and AI.
Eureka Network is a leading intergovernmental organisation dedicated to fostering international cooperation in research, development, and innovation, with a presence in over 45 countries. Through its Network Projects, Eureka aims to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of industries by supporting collaborative, market-driven R&D initiatives that bring together partners from different countries.
This call specifically targets joint R&D projects between France and South Korea, encouraging applications in all thematic areas, with particular emphasis on semiconductors, advanced manufacturing (including secondary batteries, mobility, and robotics), and artificial intelligence. The program is designed to facilitate the development of innovative products, processes, or services with a clear path to commercialisation and civilian application.
Consortia must include at least one eligible French company and one eligible South Korean company, with the main applicant in each country being a commercial enterprise. Additional partners such as research institutes or universities may participate, and organisations from other countries can join if they secure their own funding. No single organisation or country may account for more than 70% of the project budget, ensuring balanced international collaboration.
French participants can access funding through Bpifrance, with startups eligible for up to 80% of project costs as a loan, and small or medium-sized companies up to 60%. Large French companies and research organisations may participate but are not eligible for direct funding. South Korean participants may receive grants managed by KIAT, with startups and small companies eligible for up to 67% of costs, medium-sized companies up to 50%, large companies up to 33%, and research organisations or universities up to 100%. The maximum grant for South Korean participants is KRW 500,000,000 (about €300,000) per year for up to three years.
The application process requires consortia to contact their respective national funding agencies, submit a joint application via the Eureka portal, and complete any additional national requirements. Evaluation criteria include the project’s market impact, degree of innovation, consortium quality, and implementation plan. Successful projects will receive the Eureka label and may undergo further national evaluation before funding is allocated.
