Deadline: July 31, 2026
The Trafford Shop Improvement Grant offers one-off financial support to retail and hospitality businesses in Trafford to enhance their shop or premises.
The Trafford Shop Improvement Grant is designed to support the revitalization and enhancement of retail and hospitality businesses operating ground-floor shops within Trafford. The program aims to help local businesses invest in their premises, contributing to the vibrancy and economic health of the area.
Eligible businesses can receive between £5,000 and £10,000 for improvement projects costing at least £10,000.
Priority will be given to applications that demonstrate improvements in customer offerings, job creation, reductions in energy use or carbon emissions, increased applicant financial contribution, upgrades to accessible facilities, or are located in designated priority areas. The grant is intended to encourage sustainable business practices and community engagement.
Eligible applicants must own or rent a ground-floor shop in Trafford and be able to provide documentation proving their right to work in the UK. Only one grant is available per business, and previous applicants from 2025/26 may only reapply if their new application is substantially different. Businesses in debt to Trafford Council, involved in legal disputes with the Council, or operating in excluded sectors such as arms manufacturing, pornography, payday loans, gambling, charities, tobacco, vape shops, or property investment are not eligible. Applicants must also ensure that their total public financial assistance from 2024–2026, including this grant, does not exceed £315,000.
