The J-StarX Global Growth for Climate Tech in Europe Program is pleased to announce its applications to support program that provides mentoring, networking opportunities, and participation in major European climate tech events.
The program focuses on supporting climate tech startups by identifying potential partners, investors, and clients in Europe, building networks with European investors, companies, and research institutions, and increasing visibility through participation in major European climate tech events. It is open to a wide range of climate tech fields, including renewable energy and energy storage, sustainable mobility and logistics, circular economy and resource efficiency, built environment and smart cities, carbon management, and related technologies.
The program is designed for Japanese climate tech companies with operations based in Japan that are at the Seed to Later stage with Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 5–9 and classified as Scalers. It supports startups that are planning to expand their business into Europe through a combination of domestic activities, personalized mentoring, and international business development opportunities.
The program can accommodate up to two participants from each selected company throughout its duration. Participants are expected to be CXO-level executives or heads of overseas operations at Japanese startups based in Japan. Nationality is not a requirement as long as applicants are affiliated with an eligible Japanese startup. Applicants should have sufficient English-language proficiency, be willing to participate in all program activities, respond to interviews and questionnaires during and after the program, and continue cooperating with follow-up activities conducted by the organizers.
The program provides in-kind support. JETRO covers airfare, online and on-site mentoring, workshops, events, and program arrangements. Participants are responsible for domestic transportation costs, overseas accommodation, meals, communication expenses, visa fees, overseas travel insurance, and any other expenses not covered by JETRO.
Applicants must represent a Japanese climate tech startup with operations based in Japan, be at the Seed to Later stage with TRL 5–9 and Scaler classification, plan to expand into Europe, nominate up to two CXO-level executives or heads of overseas operations, possess English-language proficiency, participate in all program components including the domestic program, mentoring sessions, and the one- to two-week Europe visit, and cooperate with interviews, questionnaires, and follow-up surveys conducted during and after the program.
