Applications are now open for the Clean Economy Grants Program to support organisations in establishing ‘proof of concept’ for clean technologies and circular economy solutions that benefit the Geelong community.
Objectives
- The grants are designed to assist the community to:
- work towards a circular economy in relation to food waste – both household and commercial/industrial – textiles, manufacturing, e-waste, household items, packaging or soil remediation
- reduce energy use and energy costs
- improve soil ecology and land management in agriculture
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions in commercial and industrial applications
- achieve net zero carbon emissions in commercial and industrial applications
- reduce water consumption, improve water efficiency and/or reuse water in commercial and industrial applications
- reduce waste to landfill, increase recycling, work towards zero waste and/or waste to energy
- develop sustainable building materials with low embodied energy, and/or made from renewable waste/recycled resources
- reduce packaging in consumer, commercial and industrial applications.
Funding Information
- You may request up to $25,000.
- The total amount of funding available for all Clean Economy Grants is $50,000.
- You can only submit one application per funding round to this grant.
- You must complete your activity within 12 months of signing a funding agreement.
What can you apply for?
- Project costs that demonstrate clean technology and circular economy solutions, for example:
- prototyping, market research, material testing
Eligibility Criteria
- Being eligible means, you can receive a grant, but it does not guarantee funding. To apply for this grant, the entity must be based in the City of Greater Geelong, under Geelong ownership or intend to work with suppliers located in Geelong to deliver the project, in addition to one of the following:
- incorporated not-for-profit organisation
- registered charitable organisation
- higher education institutions
- businesses
- individuals operating as sole traders (with an active ABN)
Ineligibility Criteria
- You are not eligible to apply if you are any of the following:
- unincorporated group with an auspice
- schools
- individual (without an ABN)
- previous applicant with an outstanding acquittal for grant funding from the City
- applicant who has not complied with the terms of a previous funding agreement
- entity involved in legal proceedings related to winding up its operations, experiencing insolvency or bankruptcy (includes any legal bankruptcy related actions against an entity’s directors or officers)
- entity with outstanding debt to the City of Greater Geelong or in legal proceedings with the City.
