Deadline Date: June 30, 2026
The Women in Business Foundations Program provides mentoring and advisory support to women-led small businesses in South Australia, helping participants strengthen business capability, improve sustainability, and support long-term growth.
The program focuses on financial and accounting literacy, human resources, insurance, tax and legal matters, business planning and growth strategies, digital marketing strategies, cyber security preparation, and securing finance for startup and business growth.
Delivered by Adelaide Business Hub with support from the Department of State Development, the Women in Business Foundations Program is an initiative of the Government of South Australia’s Office for Small and Family Business under the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023–2030. The program is designed to provide tailored support that addresses the specific challenges and opportunities faced by women business owners.
Participants receive up to six mentoring sessions, beginning with a consultation with a qualified Adelaide Business Hub advisor. During this initial session, a detailed action plan is developed to identify business priorities and growth opportunities. Participants are then matched with appropriate specialist advisors who provide up to five additional hours of mentoring tailored to their business needs.
The program aims to support 600 women-led small businesses across South Australia between 1 October 2024 and 30 June 2026. Through personalized mentoring and expert guidance, participants can improve business operations, strengthen management capabilities, and enhance their readiness for future growth opportunities.
Support is provided in the form of mentoring and business advice rather than direct financial grants. The program helps participants build practical skills, improve decision-making, and access specialized knowledge that can contribute to stronger and more sustainable businesses.
Eligible applicants must identify as a woman in business and operate a for-profit business located in South Australia. The business must have an annual turnover of less than AUD 1 million, be registered for GST, employ fewer than 20 full-time equivalent staff, and demonstrate a strong commitment to participating in the mentoring program. Applicants must also hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and must not have previously accessed the Women in Business Foundations Program.
