The Phase One is an entrepreneurial start-up programme designed to support innovators in turning their ideas into sustainable businesses through expert advice, workshops, mentoring, networking opportunities and workspace support.
The programme focuses on supporting businesses working within the digital, creative, technology, and science sectors. It aims to help entrepreneurs accelerate business growth through mentoring, workshops, networking events, community collaboration, workspace access, and direct engagement with partner organisations that provide expertise, knowledge, and practical guidance.
The programme encourages collaboration among start-ups from different industries that share innovative and entrepreneurial ambitions. Participants benefit from direct interaction with fellow founders, regional support networks, and partner organisations that help businesses strengthen their operations and scale effectively.
There is no charge to enter the programme. Participants are only required to pay a £20 deposit per item issued, such as keys, fobs, or coffee tokens. The programme runs for 12 months and includes induction sessions, quarterly one-to-one meetings, workshops, networking events, and pitch presentations when required.
To be eligible, applicants must be pre-start businesses or businesses less than 12 months old, have fewer than three employees at the time of application, and operate within an innovative field in the digital, creative, technology, or science sectors. Applicants must also demonstrate commitment to actively growing their business and participating in programme activities.
The application process includes submission of a complete application form followed by a panel interview for shortlisted applicants. The interview consists of a 10-minute pitch-style presentation and a further 10 minutes of questions. Successful applicants receive confirmation along with onboarding details. Participants who cannot attend the induction day are required to wait for the next cohort.
