Deadline Date: August 14, 2026
The Urban Dengue Control Innovation Challenge invites eligible organisations to pilot and validate innovative bio-enabled and digitally-powered solutions for sustainable urban dengue control in Sri Lanka.
The challenge focuses on sustainable urban dengue control, bio-enabled solutions, digitally-powered technologies, integrated vector management, cost-effective interventions, scalable solutions for city- and nationwide rollout, field validation, and evidence generation.
The challenge aims to identify and support innovative solutions that can help address Sri Lanka’s persistent urban dengue burden. Dengue remains endemic in the country, with reported incidence remaining significantly above the national target despite years of investment in conventional vector control measures such as larviciding, spraying, and community clean-up campaigns. Increasing insecticide resistance, climate-related changes, and the complexities of densely populated urban environments have further highlighted the need for new approaches.
Selected projects will receive grant funding of up to USD 450,000 per pilot project, with applicants required to provide 10% co-financing. The programme also offers an opportunity to test and validate solutions in a new market, collaborate with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and key national and international stakeholders, gain visibility among governments and financiers across Asia and the Pacific, and contribute to meaningful public health impact.
Applications are open to for-profit entities, not-for-profit organisations, civil society organisations, research institutions, and government-owned enterprises that are legally and financially autonomous from the government in the implementation country. Individuals are not eligible to apply, and all team members must be at least 18 years of age.
