Institut français is offering grants to support artists and cultural operators from civil society in Africa, as well as the French cultural network, in particular by supporting creation and distribution projects and major events with a regional dimension on the continent.

Funding Information
- From €5,000 to €20,000
Particular attention will be paid to:
- Projects with a regional dimension, i.e. involving several countries and partners from the Continent (festival, biennial or platform inviting professionals, or collaborations and artistic exchanges of personalities from other countries of the Continent).
- Projects highlighting young generations, emerging scenes and new artistic practices in the field of contemporary African creation.
- Projects promoting an eco-responsible approach, which will offer a long time for each of their dates as part of tours for example (performance + meeting time + additional workshops + training, etc.). Thus, digital mobility will also be the subject of particular attention.
- Projects that are attentive to gender issues: projects led by women cultural operators, projects that highlight women artists, or projects that encourage diversity and gender equality will be promoted.
Eligible Projects
- Projects eligible for support:
- Festivals and major cultural events (biennials, professional platforms, etc.)
- Support for artistic creation for projects with regional or international ambitions
- Dissemination and distribution of projects: exhibitions, workshops
- Innovative and eco-responsible digital projects
- Regional tours concerning projects by artists or companies based on the African continent or co-creation cooperation projects in the various fields of performing arts, music, circus and street arts. In order to receive support from the Institut français, these regional tours must include several dates on the continent (at least 5 or 6 dates in a minimum of 3 countries).
Eligibility Criteria
- This call is dedicated to companies and cultural operators based on the African continent, to Cooperation and Cultural Action Services, to Institut français, Alliances françaises, and Binational Cultural Centres.
- Note: in the case of an application for support submitted by a cultural operator from civil society, an opinion will systematically be requested from the French Institute or the embassy of the country (a letter of support from the embassy, the Institut français or the Alliance française partner must be attached to the application file).
